J-fashion concepts for a cover commission I'm working on.
Top is fairy kei
middle is lolita
bottom are mori girls

I kind of feel like an ass if I don't say a whole lot here. I figure I might as well since I keep my comments really minimum on tumblr already (is it like tumblr etiquette to not comment much? idk that's dumb).

The theme for the final commission is a thug/gangster/violent/kawaii cross. I already know a whole lot about lolita and mori girl, so I ended up doing a lot more research for fairy-kei. The really hyper look of the style made me want to do something different with the hair, so I went with a side buzz-cut kind of thing with a bow patterned in it. I was worried the colours might be too convoluted, but then again that's sorta the style haha. The left girl was me trying to include more 'tomboyish' elements (if you can even call it that), and then a more poofy girly look for the one on the right.

I know way more about lolita so my first thoughts were how to incorporate brand releases into the main theme. I have some saved stuff with classical 1920's gangsters from some IW items and violin bags, but ultimately went with AP's engineer boots and moto jacket for a 'biker gang' look. To contrast the violent themes the strongest, I used sweet lolita.

The mori outfits were a bit difficult since I don't follow any specific brand releases for them (and they're not as prominent as with lolita culture), and I just had SO MANY IDEAS for the outfits and hair styles. On top of that I can't really imagine an appropriate weapon of choice or gang-theme for them, so I focused more on just normal mori designs. I guess if they had to fall into a trope, they'd probably be the 420 BLAZE IT types haha. They'd be chill as hell and no one would take them seriously UNTIL THEY RAM INTO YOU WHILE RIDING ON A DEER AND ITS ANTLERS GORE YOUR INSIDES OUT.

_{Damn, this makes me want to know more about "J-fashion" and stuff. Love all of them, especially the mori girls. I feel like all of these are outfits you'd buy from a store, after a lot of searching of course, and I enjoy that realistic element they have. C:}

hehe all those doodles are super nice and pretty cute. those girls are very stylish, cute and cool! you did a pretty nice job on their hair styles. I love them. they are pretty and interesting. all the clothes are very well done too. hehe you draw dresses very very well. great job sweet! I love them all!

such a lovely design on all of them.. <3 my favs are the top left one (the color theme and her haircut cought my eye) and those two at the bottom. i can totally imagine the mori girls going all badass with antlers and if their pretty dresses were stained with blood at their bottoms it'd look even cooler. xD
