BACKTRACKIN' I'll try to make this abridged.
AX was rad and me and my people spent 80% of the time there just sitting in one spot and people-watching and gushing over cosplayers. There were also a LOT more lolitas than I expected; most of them were bodyline and one girl had that newish pancake print from AP WITH THE MATCHING BAG and another was wearing PUPPET CIRCUS HOLYSHIT I never thought I'd see that in person haha.
I bought some posters and stuff from the AA (GIANT Hannaisnotaboysname one, and an AdventureTime genderbend one
[link] got my little brother mario+luigi plush dolls from the DH.
I really loved the AA and saw a handful of artists I recognized on here. *-* There was a lot of pokemon stuff but NO WOOPERS WHAT IS THIS SHIT. Guys, draw more Woopers I need them in my life and would have gladly bought a dozen of whateveryouwereselling with them on it and rub them furiously all over my body.
The DH was neat, but a lot of it was sorta pricey and I'm more inclined to drop down money if it's for smallbusinesses/artists than bigger dealers. Though I reallyreally wanted one of the artbooks they were selling but auuuggh soexpensive. I am a huge sucker for concept art but not for $70+.
I was disappoint that I ended up missing the panel by the people behind Teahouse, and I didn't see any of the people who said they were going. THERE WERE SO MANY PEOPLE AND CROWDS EVERYWHERE though that it would have been a miracle if I had haha.
I wore otome-ish (that's weeaboo-speak for 'standard cutsey crap' for the uninformed) clothes for the first and third days. On the second day I wore mori girl. I didn't end up wearing lolita (even though I had packed my stuff for it) because I felt kind of sick after the second day, and everyone knows that no man weak of heart or body can successfully don the attire of the rufflebutts without like violently exploding or something.
And awkwardly enough I got asked for my photo a handful of times for...some reason haha wat.
PORTLAND was also rad and again OHMYGRAVY NATURE FUCKING EVERYWHERE I loved it. Like, there were giant trees and shit even right next to buildings and all over the downtown area and forests with trails like ten minutes away it was nuts. Also the weather was great and I loved the overcast and occasional rainy spurts and heard people complaining about how hot it was getting when it hit over 75F.
In contrast, over here in fresyes it's just DESERT EVERYWHERE and shitty bare land with tumbleweeds destroying everyone you know and love (okay so maybe I've only seen a few tumbleweeds but you get the idea) and anything under 90F in summer is a miracle performed by god.I have a piece of chocolate here I set on my desk like an hour ago and I just went to grab it and the entire thing is melted. And it isn't even hot by my standards yet.
THE BEST PART THOUGH is that like everyone in portland is so used to weird shit that you just get this vibe of no one caring about how you look or what you do. I ran around in mori a few times and no one even batted an eyelid. My sister told me she's seen flocks of people biking through town naked and hollering while she was at a restaurant and everyone just laughed and then continued on like it was nothing special.
And I loved how they have so many vegetarian/vegan options at places to eat ohgod it's rad. And the little foodcarts all over the place.
Also it was crazy how they pump gas for you over there.
What I didn't like is sooo many people smoke and ugghghghg I hate the smell of cigarette smoke but it was everywhere ffff. And the car ride was brutal (12 hour drive there, and then another 12 back).
Ok I'm done.
I'll be here all day if I keep talking about it and I have stuff to do.
